My Father and the Man in Black (87 min)
Jonathan HoliffCanadaFollowing his father's suicide, Jonathan Holiff discovers hundreds of letters and audio diaries, including recorded phone calls with Johnny Cash during his pill-fueled 1960s, triumphs at Folsom and San Quentin, marriage to June Carter, and his conversion in the early 1970s to born-again Christian.

These artifacts tell the story about how Holiff Sr. and Cash collaborated to create a superstar, while each struggled with personal demons. A fascinating behind-the-scenes view of the complex relationship between the notorious singer and his long-suffering manager--it is also a catharsis for its maker and engrossing journalism to boot.

March of the Gods is about development: a musical development which moves hand in hand with economic growth
based on Western models. A development which contributes to the growth of a very young and optimistic country,
but at the same time threatens to separate the young generations from their roots.
March of the Gods is a brotherhood of rockers with a mission: to bring African metal on the global stage.

The Heart of Bruno Wizard (70 min)
Elisabeth RasmussenUnited KingdomBruno Wizard is a London punk musician who became an underground legend for his original performances and 'mystery man' status in the mid 70's. He performed at the Roxy club alongside The Jam, Generation X and The Wire, and was part of the ‘Blitz kids’ scene, squatting with the Warren Street mafia. His loathing of the establishment and conventional music industry made him reject record company contracts and follow his own heart and principles at any cost. What follows is the amazing true story of Bruno’s rollercoaster journey, with blasts from the past and a future full of surprising twists and turns.[Website][Trailer]TexasSaturday Feb 22 5pm / The Gig
La Pegatina - The Doc (80 min)
ChobichobaSpainAs vibrant as The Magnificent Seven, this delightful (comic style) film introduces us to the members of La Pegatina, from fans to stars of the mestizo sound, en route to universality. A documentary about buddies around the world, about two dudes that evolve from die-hard Manu Chao fans to stars in their own right. The plot is arranged like an indie film, but fusion-style, and all the gags under the sun. They talk about school, about the bad old days, how they met, and take the piss out of each other. And Tomasín even appears, an old chum, supplier of medicinal herbs and star of the namesake song. Mulatto rumba between friends, up-close, witty and filled with humanity. Our Robocop Remake
55 DirectorsCalifornia USAOur RoboCop Remake is a crowd-sourced film project based on the 1987 Paul Verhoeven classic. Organized through Channel 101 and a bunch of other places, we're 50 filmmakers (amateur and professional) from Los Angeles and New York who have split the original RoboCop up into individual pieces and have remade the movie ourselves. Not necessarily a shot-for-shot remake, but a scene-for-scene retelling. As big fans of the original RoboCop, and as filmmakers and film fans admittedly rolling our eyes at the Hollywood remake machine, we've elected to do this remake thing our own way. [Website][Trailer]TexasSaturday Feb 22 9pm / Dishman Art Museum
Zombex
Jesse DaytonTexas and LouisianaZOMBEX tells the story of a post-Katrina New Orleans as it deals with a second
disaster, a zombie apocalypse. Gone is the depression and post-traumatic stress
of the hurricane, thanks to the revolutionary new anti-depressant called
"ZOMBEX" manufactured by a nefarious corporation. Are citizens of the Big Easy
on the path to happiness, or is ZOMBEX working its dark magic? It is. Just as
quickly as the city recovered, it plunges back into madness. Only this time,
instead of deadly water filling the streets, NOLA is flooded with the walking dead.
