The Boomtown Film and Music Festival has received permission to screen Tarzan: Lord of the Louisiana Jungle. This documentary traces the history of the Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 100 year old character and focuses on the making of the very first Tarzan movie, 1917’s Tarzan of the Apes, which was filmed on the gulf coast of Louisiana and went on to become a smash hit during cinema’s early silent era.

Self financed and produced over a period of four years by author, illustrator and educator Al Bohl, Tarzan: Lord of the Louisiana Jungle explores a forgotten moment in our region’s history when the biggest movie in the world wasn’t being made in Hollywood but right here on the gulf coast.
